Carver Animal Control
The Animal Control officer (ACO) responds to all calls relating to animals. These calls can include investigating reports of injured, abused, and neglected animals. Yearly barn inspections as well as complaints about nuisance animals. The town utilizes three Animal Control Officers that are on call. An on call ACO can be reached at 508-866-3444 between the hours of 12 PM and 4 PM. If you reach their voicemail, please leave them a message with your name, telephone number, address, and problem. If your animal complaint involves a human life in danger, call 911 immediately. For non-emergencies, please call the police station 508-866-2000 and a dispatcher can attempt to assist you.

Nuisance Removal
For the removal of wild animals please search your local yellow pages for nuisance removal agencies. Examples would include an animal that has become caught underneath your porch or a bat that has become stuck in a chimney.

DOG LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
In accordance with Massachusetts General Law Chapter 140, Section 137, all dogs over the age of six months must be licensed annually.
Certificates of rabies vaccination and spay or neutering must accompany a dog license application unless the dog is exempt Click Here
Annual Licensing Period
January 1st through December 31st, both dates inclusive.
It is the responsibility of the dog owner to license their dog(s) on time, but as a courtesy the town clerk’s office mails a reminder with the annual census in January.
All licenses expire on December 31st annually.
Late fees are effective March 1st.
Failure to License is an additional $50.00 fine per dog. (M.G.L. Ch. 140, Sec. 141).
Kennel Licensing:
Anyone applying for a kennel license with six (6) or more dogs is subject to local zoning requirements and must inquire with the Planning Board before applying for a license.
Fees
Neutered or Spayed dogs = $7.00 each
Intact dogs = $10.00 each
Lost Tag Replacement = $2.00
Late fee = $10.00 each
Kennel for 4 to 5 dogs = $30.00
Kennel for 6 to 9 dogs = $60.00
Kennel for 10 dogs or more = $150.00
Payment Options
A dog license may be obtained in one of the following ways:
- Go to the Town Clerk’s Office
- Order licenses online
- Pay online go to www.doglicenses.us/MA/Carver
- Kennels must be done in office and an inspection must be done prior to licensing by contacting Animal Control
During our peak licensing period please allow 1 to 2 weeks for license(s) to be returned.
